Since taking our first steps into the big, scary world of being an independent creative agency, we have grown a lot here at Pink Squid. Our humble home on Hatton Garden housed artists and scientists, planners and perfectionists, creatives and consultants (not to mention being the backdrop for many a Nerf Gun shoot-outs and foosball finales).
Moreover, it was a place where award-winning work was born of creative collaboration. A place where we learned and a place we loved. But as our Tank began to overflow, it was time to become the (almost) adults we had become as a collective. We grew up, we moved out, and we couldn’t be happier.
Welcome to our new HQ, situated in Southwark, SE1.
After months of painstaking preparation, we moved into our new home at 25a Copperfield Street last Friday, wide-eyed and wowing as we passed through the threshold. The shiny new Squid Tank is three times the size of our old abode, split over two levels and designed with – you guessed it – collaboration in mind.
It started with a simple Pinterest board, where Squids were encouraged to pin their inspiration, ensuring everyone’s voice was heard. Having found a space in South East London, we commissioned Third-Way Interiors to breathe life into our vision.
Third-Way – our nearby neighbours off Hatton Garden – got us from the get-go, staying true to our brief of retaining the building’s integrity and 1800’s heritage. We’re told it was once a tram carriage workshop; something we wanted reflected in the furnishings and in the 45-degree angles throughout the space, from tables to tiling.
When we found it, the space was a mishmash of mundane offices, which we couldn’t wait to smash through, keeping nothing but the building’s bare bones. Using re-purposed furniture and lighting, interspersed with new tech including an AV wall in the boardroom the Directors are very excited about, we have transformed it into the thing of beauty it is today.
One week in, and we’re enjoying hot-desking around our new HQ, making full use of the breakout spaces, tech and non-tech and (you know us) play areas. The space reflects the truly agile nature of the way we work, and we can’t wait to welcome clients and new faces alike to our Squid Tank II in the upcoming months.
